Hey Ed: I got approval for the landing gear spacers a few years ago, and had the instructions for continued airworthiness included. I will attach the wording below, but my machine has left out the numbers for the paragraphs/lines. I will try to put them back in, but it may really mess everything up. Installed spacer on both main landing gear shock assemblies. Weight and balance change is negligible. Work accomplished IAW AC 43.13-1B and AC 43.13-2A. INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS 1. Introduction: The original Ercoupe/Alon was designed to sit on the ground with a negative angle of attack. Addition of the dual fork nose gear lowers the tail and causes the aircraft to sit on the ground with a positive angle of attack. 2. Description: Addition of the steel MLG spacer raises the tail back to the original design specifications which enhances ground handling qualities of the aircraft. This change has no effect on the flying characteristics of the aircraft. 3. Control, operation information: N/A 4. Servicing information: N/A 5. Maintenance instructions: The stop needs no maintenance, but should be checked along with the MLG rubber doughnuts at each 100-hr/annual inspection. 6. Trouble shooting information: N/A 7. Removal and replacement information: The additional stop may be removed by removing the MLG shock assembly and pulling the piston out of the cylinder. Slide the bushing/stop up off the tube and reassemble the shock. Install the additional MLG spacer by reversing the above procedure. 8. Diagrams: N/A 9. Special inspection requirements: N/A 10. Application of protective treatments: N/A 11. Data: N/A 12. List of special tools: None 13. For commuter category aircraft: N/A 14. Recommended overhaul period: N/A 15. Airworthiness Limitation Section: N/A 16. Revision: Revision of these instructions shall be accomplished by submitting a letter to the local FSDO with a copy of the revised FAA form 337 and revised instructions. No further entries this page. Lynn H Nelsen I hope this helps. Lynn
