Frank,

Even if others advise you it's OK to spin a climb prop higher than 2400 rpm,
I would, personally, never cruise higher than 2575 on a C-85 engine.

As someone said, "Unlike a rotary engine, Continental pistons must
constantly move in one direction, stop, move in the reverse direction, stop,
and repeat the cycle over and over." There are a lot of individual parts
involved and spinning them faster does add more strain, even if the engine
is lightly loaded.

So, don't over do it on rpm.

I can't advise you to cruise higher than 2400 because I just don't know if
it's OK. I once heard that on the O-200, Continental recommended staying
with 2525 for max climb and max cruise.

Fly happy and safely.

Ed
