Dan, No personal experience with an import from Canada, but I did research selling a U.S. registered aircraft to a Canadian. It's a little complicated but doable. I don't know all the rules about re-importing but do the research then contact the FAA before you spend any money and let them confirm your research. The folks up north do have some rules that are different. Under some circumstances they have an owner maintenance program for some light aircraft. I am not sure how the FAA would feel about an aircraft that has been "owner maintained" being re-imported into the U.S.
