Hi, Bill. As you can imagine, estimates are difficult to make. A lot of
time is spent figuring out what needs to be done and how to do it. The
drawing is critical as well as the instructions in the Ercoupe
Memorandums (59 and 59a if memory serves me - the books are on the
bench in the hangar at the moment). If you have a complete kit (e.g.
new), it will speed the process. I purchased a partial kit on eBay and
have spent time finding the missing parts. And then there is inevitable
mistakes that are made, requiring disassembly and reassembly. I have
been working on it in earnest for more than a week with my A&P doing
the critical skills steps like riveting and applying safety wire. The
rudder pedal installation would have been very expensive if I was not
willing to do much of the work. Here are some notes:

1) it is very small inside the coupe so getting in and out of the bare
chassis is challenging since you must be very careful where you step
(if you are double jointed or have abnormal flexibility it should be
easier)

2) the floor boards and the entire seat must come out (meaning all the
structural elements such as seat pan and seat back

3) removing the rudder cables from the control quadrant is challenging
since there is a bolt that needs to be cut off unless you are willing
to remove the entire quadrant and disassemble it

4) when drilling the holes for the reinforcement plates, be very
careful of what is on the other side (I got the joy of replacing a fuel
line)

5) work slowly and methodically (take the time to make sure that you
are doing it right)

I have been taking pictures as the work proceeds. Some of them are
posted in a photo album on this group. If you want to see something in
particular, I either have a view or can get one since I am still not
done. I hope to be done this weekend. I hope your project takes less
time.
