maybe it's too bad Gen. Bowen sold his 'Coupe (derivative) and left us, 
'cause he was always good for throwing acetone onto a fire like you 
guys have cooking

By the way, as a relative newbie, why can't such a crack be V-ground 
and then be heli-arced back into good serviceable condition?  
Supposedly such weldment is stronger than the piece was in the first 
place, or at least that's the song I've heard sung.  (somehow I have a 
suspicion that any prohibition against solid repair goes back to the 
Feds)
