Ooooh! I don't know about that one. I could only imagine that if such a
repair was okay (and I don't think it is) the weld would need to be
XRay'd
which would involve more work than anyone may want to do. Need to
gather up
parts and pieces and spares when you have the opportunity! I have 2
extra
main spars laying around for the early (post war) numbers.

Ya reckon XRaying the weld would get close to replacement cost (isn't
that around $1.2K?)? Maybe if you took the spar to a hospital... I
have the idea the XRaying could come to the A/C, however.
