Dan,

If you are based at a 6,000' airport, it's a nice improvement to get either
the O-200 crankshaft conversion STC (which improves climb to be, so they
say, near the C-90) OR get an actual O-200 put in the plane.

Or habitually fly solo.

Also, I'd be sure to have the prop pitched to be a climb or extreme-climb
prop if I were based at that high an airport.

Runways are long at high altitude airports so getting off seems not to be
the main problem.  It's climb after getting off the ground that's the
limiting safety factor, I think.
