Ralph;
You're speaking of two different animals.  Any crap that the owner did would 
need to be corrected before an annual signoff by "someone who has passed the 
test".  

Maybe we should realize that many who have passed the test can neither read nor 
write but that doesn't speak of their mechanical aptitude.  I wouldn't trust 
50% of the folks that have passed the test to work on my riding mower, let 
alone a flying machine.

When in Dallas, TX feel free to stop by and I'll show you what owner 
maintenance can look like when it's done well.

  While looking at Coupes a few years to buy one, I saw several that clearly 
had been owner "maintained".  No thanks, I'll stick with an annual inspection 
by someone who has passed a test.
