I have an interesting note to add relative to the FAA behavior with respect to the Light Sport Aviation Branch. It seems that the leadership at the FAA for Light Sport has changed (not sure exactly when). It used to be Larry Klimer (if my memory serves me well) and now is Larry Buchanan. I was told that Mr. Buchanan was the FSDO at LAX before taking the job in Oklahoma. The word is that he is no friend of the Light Sport movement and is only interested in his current job for the betterment of his career. Unlike his predessor, the current Larry is more likely to provide a thumbs down to any innovation that might expand the ranks of those of us in the General Aviation sector (read - unwashed masses).
The Cessna 140 folks may have gotten the head nod from one administrator and the boot from the next.
