One more question:

Is the Sport Pilot allowed to replenish oil if needed? I know the Private Pilot
is .
I see the oil change as an extended replenishing after accidentally actuating
the quick drain on my Ercoupe.

I see no problems in oil changes either way.

Hi All

Hate to start another discussion but!

In Appendix A. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AUTHORIZED TO BE PERFORMED BY PILOTS
(in accordance with FAR 43, Appendix A(c))

No where does it say that you can change your own oil.

It says: " Clean or replace fuel and oil strainers or filter elements."

You can replenish Hydraulic fluid in the reservoir but not the oil.

When I bring this up to the local FSDO guys they change the subject as they know
that everyone does it so they look the other way.
