My apologies. I should have realized that there is only one Mr. Wright, everyone else is not. One thing I was ignorant of however, was that Mr. Wright was so busy and wealthy that he could turn down work. Bully for him!
I guess because I have the time to get onto the computer, I couldn't possibly be proficient enough to have a valid opinion about mechanics, stress, metal fatigue and the proper sizing of holes. I do lead a boring life, I admit. However, some of that boring time has been taken up by working on my own Bonanza as well as working on my own watches, but evidently none can be in good repair because I'm a computer user. Although I like to keep the money flowing within the Ercoupe community, I'll direct any further tank repair referrals to a certified repair station. Since they have the credentials, it's obvious that they must be the ONLY ones who would be able to repair fuel tanks (other than anyone who has built their own RV). I'm wondering what it actually takes to put one in. Does a guy need a new spar or a used one. I talked to John Write who is a complete --S! He said it takes a jig to put one in and he suggested to install a used one so the holes line up. He then suggested me to bring it to him. I then got a few emails from guys and I talked to the guys from Sky-port and they said the holes wont line up. I told john on the phone this morning that Sky-port and a few other guys said that the holes wont line up and he said he wanted nothing to do with this project. He said all the guys I'm getting my info from just sit on the computer and never turn a wrench and he said I don't understand. I then told him I'm going to bring it to him to have him install it and he hung up on me. I'm wondering if it can be done and how. Me and my a&p IA will be doing the work or do you know someone in the mid-west that is capable of installing one or is John Wright the only one that can do this. My Boss is a A&P IA that will be assisting me and signing it off. I'm just asking because John W is suppose to be the big Ercoupe Guy that has all the answers and if that's the case he must be right and it must be difficult to install. I just want it to be "RIGHT". Thanks, Tom
