Tom,

We installed pedals in N99325 last summer for the same reasons. We bought used
pedals from another project (from this list), and the installation drawings and
instructions from Univair. We bought some new stuff such as fairlead blocks,
Rudder spring attachments, etc that were not included in the used parts.

We followed the instructions and did a logbook entry. I don't remember how
long the project took, but it was more than a day. Having a new install kit
would have make the install go faster.

We already had the hand brake. We cut off the foot brake pedal.

We had to remove and reinstall the sheer bolt in the main control
bellcrank/spider to remove the rudder lead bolts from the control spider. This
was probably the hardest part.

Some coupes we looked at cut the lower floorboard in two, splicing at a
bulkhead aft of the rudders. This would allow you to remove the aft portion of
the floor board without removing the rudder pedal assembly. We didn't do this.
This would facilitate future inspections, and cleaning out the bilges.

Make sure the rudder operate in the proper direction. The cables have to cross
somewhat in the tailcone.

I think most people understood what I was asking. I'm not perfect!

Thanks to the guys that have them that commented. I've heard from several guys
that don't have them tell me not to install them. I don't see any disadvantages
of having them. It would be best if my students have them so they won't have to
take another check ride with the examiner if they decide to fly a 3 axis plane
in the future!
I have over 1000hrs in flying with rudder pedals and one of the biggest safety
technique is being able to do forward slips!

Has anyone here installed them? How was it?

Thanks,

Tom Mullally
