Dave Winters had a thought that might apply. (His e-mail system only posts blank messages to the forum so I'm posting it for him.) Some of what you've described would be consistent with being at an airspeed lower than you think you're at. You might want to calibrate your airspeed indicator. I'd suggest running a calibration test at about 100 mph indicated and again at 60 or 70 (up at altitude, of course).
