Replacing side windows is specifically allowed as owner maint. If you feel
comfortable with it do it.

You may replace the rivets with an equal size AN machine screw and locknut but
may not be able to slide the window all the way down. be sure to drill your
holes atlease 1/32" larger to allow for expansion and contraction differences
between the plexiglas and aluminum ends, and use a special drill bit for
drilling plastic.

Nick asked:
is it the side window your pulling over ,or is there another
one I need to get. . . . I'm 6'2" so I hope I fit under it.

Nick,

Normally, the side window plastic is cut long enough to go from top center to
just below the window sill. Some people with a center sun shield (basically a
baby window with left and right end pieces) may have their side windows cut
shorter. It’s not all that big a deal to get new Plexiglas from the local
plastics shop, get it cut to the specified size and rivet it to the end pieces
– any good A&P should have no trouble.

If you’re too tall for having the window closed over you, consider removing
some stuffing from the seat cushion. Fred Weick was taller than you, I seem to
remember.

Some seat cushion replacements are much thicker than the factory cushions.
