Be careful that the tail is not wider than the trailer wheels in Oklahoma. I had a Cherokee with gear still on the wings on a trailer, got stopped and he made me take the wheels off because the extended outboard of the trailer tires.

A friend made it years ago, from another drawing in Coupe Capers. I solved the tail/brake light problem by building a wooden light bar that has carpeting on the bottom surface. I strap the light bar to the top of the horizontal stabilizer to secure it, and run the wires to the regular brake/tail lights on the trailer. The main problem, as I see it, is that when the towing vehicle makes sharp turns, the tail of the airplane swings outboard quite a bit due to it's distance behind the trailer wheels. I just barely missed a gate once, and that scared me. I then extended the tongue of the trailer 6 more feet to decrease the wide swinging tendency, but the tail is still out there in the air, unprotected. I helped another Couper trailer his Coupe a number of years ago. He rented a large snowmobile trailer which was built for 6 snowmobiles. It was a complete flatbed, with the wheels under the deck. It tilted, enabling us to put the Coupe up on the trailer. We wrapped the wings in old quilts, put them on mattresses, and lashed them down between the Coupe's wheels. We lashed the wheels down to prevent all movement of the airplane. This worked very well. He moved his Coupe from southern Wisconsin to eastern North Dakota with no trouble at all. I recommend this method. Syd On Aug 25, 2009, at 9:33 PM, Glen Davis wrote: Coupesters In the latest issue of Coupe Capers is a design for a Coupe trailer. The problem I see with this design is the tail of the Coupe extends at least 8 feet beyond the end of the trailer...sticking out in traffic. It the brake lights were mounted on the trailer, they would be hardly visible to traffic behind the rig. Does anyone have a good trailer design? I was thinking of a flatbed, like a snowmobile trailer. I would install uprights in the corners to suspend the wings. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
