In all my 18,000 hrs flying,( not all in ercoupes ) with thousands of
landings at hundreds of airports - I have never had a surprise ramp check, mine
are mandatory, I have to for low level waivers and the like.

Seen a couple ramp checks here on our airport, I believe it is called a
field trip, and show & tell.
They do not open cowlings or doors, just peer through windows, and may
write the registered owner for further information if need be. Seems owners
are never around when these things happen. < Grin >

I hope that this is sufficiently detached from our previous topic, but I
would like to know if any of you have personally experienced a ramp check
with your Ercoupe and if so, could you briefly describe the experience (level
of scrutiny)?

I know that this will be ignored, but pretty please, with sugar on top, no
 second hand accounts.

Come springtime, out here in the Appalachians, ramp (Allium tricoccum)
check has a much nicer meaning.

Thanks much,
Bill
