Folks,

I may be incorrect in my understanding, BUT here goes:

A ramp check is nothing to be concerned about, unless you are violating the
rules. I understand you must SHOW the FAA folks your license; but one should
not give it to them

.My understanding is that if you give it to them, they can keep
it,,,,,,,,pending a future hearing,, But only show; don't volunteer it.  I
could be wrong.

Same with your medical  papers.

You do not have to carry in the plane your aircraft records...or your log book;
only the Aircraft Registration and Airworthiness Certificate. Again don't give
it to them, only show it..but hold onto it...

If they desire to take your records, they have to set up a hearing, where you
do have to bring all the info requested......

Subject: Re: [ercoupe-tech] Ramp Check

Thanks much for the great response concerning ramp checks.  Aside from the
forum posts, I had several off list responses from members and all but one said
that they have never experienced one.  The person who had the check described
it as short and painless.

I was not searching for a reason to relax standards of maintenance, records or
conformity.  I just wanted some sense of how common ramp checks are and what
they might be like, and now I know.

Thanks again,
Bill
