Agreed. That's the explicit reason the LSA weight limit was pegged where it was. The sad thing is, we expected this would invigorate the American aircraft manufacturing industry. However, since the foreign countries already had regulatory environments similar to the new SLSA certification rules, the foreign manufacturers were able to quickly dominate the new SLSA market in the U.S. Is there a single company making SLSA aircraft in the U.S.? Yes, the newly designed aircraft should be distinctly better than even the best of 1939 designs. Finally, many of them are.
