When we did the 1320 lb STC to my airplane (a CD), we noticed that the control
wheel shaft had been drilled in two places at the factory. One evidently was
for the C and the other for the D. We had to drill a third hole, between the
two existing holes, to limit the elevator up travel for the required elevator
displacement called for in the1320 STC. I think some people, in accomplishing
the 1320 STC, used the pre-drilled hole for the D which further limited the
elevtor up travel and made the airplane handle during landings like a D, as in
Dog.
Pulled the wings a couple of weeks ago for recover and was pleased to find the
ribs and spars were corrosion free and looked like they had just been assembled
at the factory. Since I am in Florida, we zinc chromated everything, or
whatever the new stuff is called, prior to recovering just to further ensure no
corrosion.
And so, Sun-N-Fun is drawing nigh and I sit wingless. Grrrrrrr.
