This, OTOH, I find persuasive.  I always give "been there, done that,
here's how" more weight than, "you guys should try X."

No; that qualifies as an individual working on his own.  We have a lot
of that.  But (and forgive me while I show my ignorance, but I have an
untested assumption here) doesn't a CAD part have to be built for the
CAD work to be useful?
