I'm quite sure its a very poor catalyst compared to silver.  The main
catalytic components are probably iron oxide and organics - the 
organics won't last too long.

Hmmm.... I wonder if it could be made into a clay so it could be fired
into ceramic beads... or would that destroy its catalytic character?
