This is utterly standard for SF conventions, which typically don't make
any significant profit. *If* they do better than breaking even, then one
of the high priorities is membership-fee refunds to program participants.
I wouldn't count on it from this one: scuttlebutt has it that advance
memberships have been lower than projected and just breaking even will
require some care.
Well, then we've been very fortunate with smaller conventions that we've attended in the past. I didn't mean to whine, it's just that we're poor. :)
In any case, post the party room number when you find out what it is. (Will it be at the Fairmont?)
