I've heard that too, straight from the concom. Yet the article in today's
Mercury News talks about 4,000 attendees -- more than double the
official figures. The exact phrase is "More than 4,000 science-fiction
devotees are expected, ..."
The article is by Mike Antonucci, who's no rookie, so I tend to repose
some trust in the number -- but more hope than trust, given the other
reports.
