Build the valve into the rocket engine body.
I was thinking about this design for a while, thought I'd sketch it out.

    The recent postings on emergency shut down made me regurgitate the
idea. The idea was originally to save weight and space, but it occurred
to me that if there was no plumbing after the valve that purging would
be easier, as there would be no pipe to contaminate. I have omitted the
nozzle and cat pack. This valve would be for H2O2. I'm cogitating on an
integral fuel valve. I think the H2O2 would cool this valve enough not
to melt the seal while it was open, when closed I wonder if the  heat
built up during the burn wouldn't burn the seals on the ball valve
(omitted in drawing).
