OT is good till the sparger works ;-)

There is no magic about the "market". The market causes just as much inefficiency as other forms of organisation and depending on your yard stick even more. So some will say the market in its pure form wouldn't act so, tis the regulators that mess it up or you could take the view that regulations would work if the market didn't...........blah blah blah
The facts are that big government has been in space and little business hasn't, the fact is that ERPS is not going into space soon. To date the only private space ventures with half a chance are projects using money made else where or those fighting for a prize.
Radical capitalists and radical socialists both engage in wishful thinking to support their pet organisational modes, rhetoric sounds good to those folks. There might not be problems suitable for these solutions.
Is it better to tax and spend or just spend and spend (run up the debt), or perhaps you would feel better if Exxon Mobile ran things.
No SUVs, go to Pluto! Stop the WAR(s) and go to mars! Will the Kindergarten Cop save California?

official position on NASA, Congress, or anything else resembling
politics. All of my comments below are my personal opinion.

With a budget deficit so huge, thank goodness my great grandchildren aren't being robbed for this.

Launch for "New Horizons" is early 2006. A 2006 launch means New
Horizons can use a Jupiter gravity assist, saving *years*. If New
Horizons can't be launched in 2006, it takes years longer to get to
Pluto.

Which is why *you* need to fax or write two specific Senators to keep
the bucks for New Horizons in *their* appropriations bill.

I have a small problem with writing Senators (or ay other politician). First, I do not (willingly) associate with thieves and liars. Second, and more importantly, I will not ask another person to take my neighbor's things and spend it on things I like.

If you really want to send something to Pluto, I'd be happy to donate to
a *voluntary* fund raiser to get such a mission going.
