Craig, Here's the link to a interview with Burt Rutan where towards the end he discusses "Space Tourism" costs and potential customers. He is very positive about and is pursuing the complete system to offer "Space Tourism" flights.
If you could manage to interview Burt Rutan, John Carmack, or some of the other X-Prize teams this would be the equivalent to in 1920 interviewing Eddie Rickenbacker (Eastern Air Lines), Juan Trippe (Pan American Airlines) Jack Northrop (Northrop Aircraft Co), Donald Wills Douglas (McDonnell- Douglas). These individuals would have provided an entirely different outlook for the future of "Air Tourism" as compared to "University Orthodoxy" which would have favored "Ocean Liner Tourism" Next time the University throws negative criticism your way remember that Frederick Smith (Founder of Federal Express) while a student at Yale wrote a term paper on an overnight mail service. He received a C for his paper. The professor turned it back with the remark that the idea would never work. The blinders others choose to wear should not obscure your vision. http://www.sciam.com/mastertech/RutanInterviewtranscript.doc http://www.sciam.com/mastertech/rutan.html Timothy Young CRAIG KAUFMAN wrote: > Hi everyone at XCOR Aerospace, > > Aleta Jackson & Randall Clague recommended for me to > post this to everyone, so here goes! > > I am a 22-year-old undergraduate student undertaking a > dissertation for a degree in Tourism Management & > Human Geography at the University of Gloucestershire, > England, U.K. I am in my final year and have just > returned from a placement in Kakadu National Park, > Australia.
