Only if the PC/104 is DCE instead of DTE. But that would not make sense
since a null modem cable between my laptop and the PC/104 works fine. 

But all this discussion just got me to think of something that has not
been checked - is the PC/104 computer getting anything off the Rx line
from that serial port?

I'll chaeck that out tonight. In the meantime keep suggesting possible
problems, just in case..
