Oh, an I missed this one in my last long post... Some time ago I was asking on GNUstep list, whether it is possible to have running GNUstep from a portable media. I have received no answer so far. Anyway, it can be great if instead of having Etoile Live CD for the Etoile OS we can have Etoile Live package that can be put on a CD, USB key or iPod and run from everywhere.
The difference? - I have this cool thing called Etoile, want to see it? - Sure! Show me! - Ok, insert this disk inside and reboot. - Hm, but I am currently working on this project... ... or ... - I have this cool thing called Etoile, want to see it? - Sure! Show me! - Ok, insert this disk inside and launch "Etoile environment" - Wohoooo, nice! May I have that too? :-) - Sure, copy this directory to your disk and Enjoy. The second scenario can happen on Linux, Windows, BSD, wherever you like: That is what I would like to have and what is missing here. Take your Etoile, with tools you are used to, to wherever you like. I know this is doable and it is easier to make than standalone OS. Hm? Stefan Urbanek p.s.: I have unfinished experiment with crosscompiler for Windows on Linux. If someone is interested, I can send him what I have learned. -- http://stefan.agentfarms.net First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. - Mahatma Gandhi
