I like the overall design and the palette generally. However, looking hard at it just now I'm thinking that the middle values for Popcorn, Atomic and Cherry are a little too bright relative to the rest.

Thanks! Since Quentin expressed going for a slightly higher-chroma look, I compromised and increased the saturation of Squid, Slate, Blueprint and Herb, and decreased the saturation of Popcorn, Atomic and Cherry. The newest is up on the wiki.

Umm... no. I don't think they're shipped properly calibrated. Certainly that seems to be the consensus of the pros, judging from their comments.

Good to know.

If you go to System Preferences -> Displays -> Colours you can find the profile you're using and choose to do a calibration. You might find that the result interesting. Especially if you've got a glossy screen. That'll really mess things up.

I've got a matte screen, and the colors appear to be correct, however, I don't do any print work, nor do I have a printer or calibration software/hardware, so I don't know how accurate they truly are. I did try changing my calibration options to some of the others in the list, however, and they all shift too blue. Any other suggestions for what I could do?

Viewing an indexed colour GIF on a truecolour display isn't going to yield any useful information.

Connect your MacBook to a CRT monitor or TV and switch down to lower colour resolutions.

Sorry -- I changed my color depth to thousands (highcolor) as well when I did this, and did notice dithering, but the dithering was everywhere (including in the whites), so I'm not sure what to make of that.

Any other ideas? Anyone with a truly calibrated monitor was to check these out and provide feedback?

Thanks!

J.
