Hi people, I'm just starting to explore Etoile, think it's a very interesting project and seems like GNUstep needs something like this to really reach an audience. I'll post some of my initial thought and reactions (to the web page etc) soon.
First things first though: the silc server. I'm sure silc is really cool because... something, but it's not the most inviting protocol to use. Fewer clients and not very good support. With Colloquy it's mostly fine, but I haven't been able to connect with Pidgin. I don't get joined into the discussion when I connect to the server, and in the room list there is little that seems to have anything to do with et. So if anyone could share a little wizdom on how to get pidgin to silc, please do. Btw: I'm a freelance journalist and programmer, and right now I'm mostly focusing on iPhone programming. I've also been interested in Smalltalkish languages for a long time, as well as functional languages. In general, I'm a great peruser of languages, but don't have much practical experience of actually building useful things. I've only been programming professionally for less than a year. Hope to make myself useful to Etoile somehow! /Felix _______________________________________________ Etoile-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/etoile-discuss
