Hey all- I've got a HP 9100 series burner on a Pentium 200 MMX w/ 64megs RAM and 3.1 gig HD running Win95. The max burner speed is 8X, but (and I know many of you will laugh or groan) I've never burned beyond 4x. Trying to do so at 8x gives me the good ol buffer underrun (for DAO). Often, I can burn disc to disc on the fly at 8x and sometimes TAO at 8x. Also, I've only used Easy CD Creator, cause I've always assumed my limitations were strictly hardware related.
Just wondering what factors come into play when it comes to feeding the CD/RW drive properly to burn DAO. Saw an ad in Best Buy for a 40 gig HD at 7200 rpm for cheap, and I'd like to know if this will fix my problem. As stuff gets faster and cheaper, can I still use my archaic machine to burn at blazing speeds? Thanks for any help, adam <><><><><><> B+P's for 10 who want em SHN or Audio 1 show or 3 discs (which ever's greater) http://db.etree.org/bigac20 Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo!
