There was some recent discussion around etrade or etree about the
possibility of filtering out posts about "unmentionables", "at the
server." Just in case anyone was seriously considering this, I'd just
like to point out that it'd probably be ill-advised.

Example that would be dropped if screening unfriendly keywords:
"Offer for (friendly) band, if you haven't heard them, they sound kind of
like (unfriendly band)."

Example dropped if you screened out the word "video":
"Woohoo! (Friendly band) has a new video release of fans' choice favorite
show! See (wepage)."

These are just pretend examples, but there would no doubt be *many* valid
discussion posts that would get dropped by keyword. Given that the
root problem is posts by inexperienced/unfamiliar new subscribers,
picture the additional confusion-volume level that would arise from "Hey,
where'd my discussion/offer/pointer post go!?" and the requisite
explanations about keyword screening....
