Many disc resellers such as TDK, Fujifilm, Sony, HP, etc. sell spindles that are Tayio Yudens made in Japan. Tayio Yudens have a screw cap on the spindle. I am not aware of any other manufacturers that use a screw top. Either way you need to check the label of the spindle YOU are considering buying. Statements like "all (insert brand) are made in Taiwan" cannot consistently be true. Resellers have a habit of changing where they are buying discs from so you must be careful. If the package says "Made in Japan" on the label, buy them. If the package says "Made in Taiwan" on the label, well, you decide.
