    i just wanted to share this, and hope that it will help to clarify this
issue.
    as far as i know, Mitsui's are the only disc's that use what are
excepted by
most to be quality materials, and are solely made in Japan.
    i would agree that just because a disc was made in Japan, that doesn't
make it good, but with most of the brands that are excepted as "good" (Fuji,
HP, TDK, ect..) they use a different companies to make their disc's for
them. the ones (labeled with the fore mentioned brands) that are made in
Japan are Taiyo Yuden, and the ones made in Taiwan are made by Rytek. in
that context is how the "Japan are good, Taiwan bad" phrase was born.
    when taken out of that context, it does seem foolish, but when put back
into context it makes perfect sense.
