Actually, (and I am completely equivocal about this, not having done it), I believe that you can record uncompressed, 16-bit, stereo, 44.1KHz WAV format with the Nomad Jukebox if you want - you're not compelled to compress as you record. I have kicked about the idea of getting a 20GB one for that very reason.
