The Nomad WOULD be a good recording device. You can record to an
uncompressed wave file and it has 20GB of hard disk space. BUT the only
input it has is an analog stereo mini-jack. You could make a very good
recording, it would be very clean. Unfortunately you would be getting an
analog feed from the end of a digital line at a show, the DAT's ahead of you
would always have a better digital recording for seeding and trading.

So in conclusion...

PRO: You could have a very nice sounding personal recording with a nomad.
CON: There would always be a DAT that would have a better recording for
seeding.
