samba setup question

I've got the samba daemon running, and I can log into the
sambaclient and browse the shared directories I have setup
on the linux machine. I've setup the system using the swat
web interface. 

On the Windows NT side, I've configured the lmhosts and hosts
files. When I try to locate the linux server on the NT machine,
I get back nothing. Am I missing some essential steps here?
