I suppose I'm showing my age again... but when I was writing video games in
silicon valley (early 80s argh I'm getting old) Fry who had a string of
successful grocery stores in the SF area had his son graduate from school
with a CS degree... as Fry wanted to pass off the business to his son, they
agreed on a compromise... and opened a large store in the midst of
industrial silicon valley... it sold groceries and EGA cards... (ok, so
EGA was so new then you couldn't find one) it was a really strange trip
doing my grocery shopping and hardware shopping in the same place... using
the same checkout...
I could only tolerate California for four years and have since lost track of
what Fries was doing... I do know that I'd rather buy from Stan than anyone
else... I mean that I, a programmer, cannot any longer keep track of the
advances in assorted cards and stuff and depend on the hardware gurus to
tell me what I need to write code with...
LindaC, who will be at the meeting...
(and I cannot work with a machine that doesn't have a reset button)
