I have this neat vision of technology's potential future:
All the existing hardware cycles through society,
continues to "trickle down" as it does already...
Places like Eugene's Centre for Appropriate Transport
help people recycle bicycle parts, why not have
communal storehouses of available parts, the profits
from which can benefit and maintain the storehouse itself.
Well, my real vision has a lot more to do with nanotechnology
transforming and reusing all the nasty silly bits we've done
so far, like constructing a huge network of tubes which move
resources or beings around IN PLACE from all the material we
(or the DOT) lay down as highways. We're paving the way, but
what we think of now as the surface becomes structural!
Sorry I'll keep my nano ramblings to the transhumantech list,
but numerous questions about the impact of technology on society
were tickled... I agree, I'm impressed by Stan's, and would go
more frequently if it did not involve biking through the exhaust
of 13th, 11th, and 7th :/
Does this relate to 'net service?? Then I could say:
Stan has the best last-mile solutions!
It really is amazing what has come of this LUG since its inception,
and Stan's support of our group and other users deserves recognition.
Three cheers!!!
