This is for Seth, too, since he wanted to find out how to make funky dial songs:
Ericsson R280LX
The finder is part of the web browser functionality, and it can also check mail in pop
mailboxes, which is almost too cool. That means that Mike can go fishing more often,
and can check up on his syslogs from afar. It can also find movies and which stores
sell the goodies that you want.
I've been really impressed with the battery life, too. My last phone could only be on
for about 10 hours at the most, so I had to be a little selective and remindful about
when it was on. This thing can go for about 160 hours on a full charge without
actually making a call, and I have yet to actually make a dent in it's charge state. I
think it can go for something like 4 hours of continuous talking on a full charge, too.
Since a couple of people asked last night, and I didn't know, here's the money thing:
I got the phone for "free"--$100 value
It does 2 digital channels and 1 analog channel.
We got a $25 rebate for getting the free phone.
We got a $75 rebate for signing up with the phone service.
With a pop account, it's $34/month.
Without a pop account, it's $30/month.
Web browsing is free time--they don't charge you for connection or air time.
Limitations:
The web stuff is a sort of "canned world," or at least I haven't figured out how to
read slashdot yet, so maybe it's not that the tech is bad--it's the user.
My wife tries to call me at all hours.
