I'm tempted to be smartassed and say something like
Why don't we start a eug-lug-tech list so that we don't clutter the
main list with useless technical questions that no one can answer?

On the one hand, I do sort of understand where dexter's coming from
and wouldn't want to squelch that kind of energy. On the other hand I do
sort of see a certain decline in the overall level and tone of the
postings on the list within the past several months with opinions
being expressed for shock value (or entertainment value) and reasonably
serious technical questions going unanswered, or being answered in a
flippant smug manner that makes us all look like snotty brats with
keyboards.

My Question:
How can we use this list (as a group) to grow our knowledge (as
individuals) of unix/gnu/linux programming / admin /hardware.
