The best reason to attend is that you'd be surprised at how
reasonable we can be in person, as opposed how obnoxious and
uncompromising our email presents us.
Second best reason is that in person we can brainstorm a bit more
freely, and a commitment for time/money/personal resources is a bit more
believable in person.
