I tried that at one point, using the JBL 900mhz stuff, and it was pretty
bad.  I had reliability issues that prevented going from the main level of
my house to the upstairs bathroom on the other side, maybe 40 feet as the
crow flies.  I also had issues going from the main level to the basement,
not 15 feet from the transmitter.

Perhaps has something to do with having around 20 machines in the house?
