All well and good. Although, I see how I sounded like I was trying to dismiss GNU, my point (which is out of context in your quote) was that the issue of using the GNU tag is apart from GNU's contributions. RMS/FSF want the use of the letters GNU to be a trigger to discussions of software freedom. BTW, even if I believe that many of the items in your list have non-GNU alternatives, that doesn't diminish the importance of GNU.
