I'm trying to compile my kernel (to examine some of my network settings, such as iptables), but when I type 'make xconfig' or 'make menuconfig' at /usr/src/linux, I get nothing. I did a 'locate' on xconfig & menuconfig and got no results. Did I screw something up somewhere along the line? I thought most Linuxes have xconfig or the like.
As my subject line says, I'm using Mandrake 8.1 download edition. My goal was to get iptables working (v 1.2.5), and I kept getting "you need to update your kernel" and "Module is wrong version" type errors. Any thoughts anyone? As you can see, I'm kind of a newbie at this.
