An update on this. I was up at 05:30 this morning to go to Salem, but
never heard from Roger (hey we're talking Monday morning, so I can think
of a host of reasons why we may not have connected.) Since I was not
there, my information is second-hand:

This bill is not going to pass in its original form. There was never a
huge chance that it would, but it clearly will not. However, the bill is
so ominous that its backers have indeed tried to sell a "compromise" which
only counts you as a terrorist if you're violent or part of a group in
which you know someone will do something violent...

The overall tone of the hearing was that another hearing was necessary
once the bill had been ammended a bit more. My position remains that even
a compromised SB 742 is damned scary and probably unconstitutional. Not
that it matters these days.
