I'd recommend two things. One, get an Ultra 1 or 2 with two cpu, say Ultra2 with 
2x300Mhz. Make sure these have an hme (100Mb nic) and a Creator video card as it will 
do 24bpu. Or go for an Ultra 10 or 30. Again with hme, Creator. You'll have choice of 
any BSD, Aurora Linux, Debian Linux, Gentoo Linux, or Solaris for those. My 
recommendation is based on you getting the most bang for the buck from my personal 
experience.
