I assume you've looked at kwintv? How about effectv? = )) Regarding /dev/video and /dev/video0, there have been a few times when I was messing with my setup and trying new programs, where I had to specify /dev/video0 b/c it expected /dev/video (with no '0'), I think it expected /dev/video to be a symlink, but it is a directory on my system (holding the tuner's audio device afaik). In terms of trying other software, I'm guessig you don't want to run something like freevo or mythtv on this system?
