Thanks Corey and Joseph for sharing with me your (successful) experiences with 137+ GB HDs.

Your advice (upgrade system BIOS, if available, newer kernel, if needed, etc.) certainly points me in the right direction and; no doubt, saves me from multiple do overs.

My box is about 2+ years old, BIOS was flashed about 1.5 years ago. I'll check again; hope a new upgrade for the BIOS is available.

see if your bios sees it.  If
not, get on the motherboard manfacturer's website and download the latest
firmware for your bios.  You might also look at the bug fixes to see if the
firmware specifically says, "adds support to bios for drives >137gb."  Then
load linux with a kernel >=2.4.19 as Joseph said.

I was planning to upgrade to SuSe 's 8.2, so I'll find out which kernel it uses; and proceed from there.
