Matt,

The simplest way is to make entries for it in the host files of the individual machines that will be accessing it.

The more complex way (Someone can correct me if I'm way off base here) is to run a local DNS server that maps it for you. Then add the local DNS server to all of the client machines that will access it.

One option that requires no file editing, is to simply access it via the IP. http://192.168.0.13:8080 or what not. If you need to have lay people access it this way, you can book mark it in their browsers or make a bookmark icon to it on their desktop.

Good luck,
Jim

I'm working on a machine at home that I intend to bring here and make it another server. I am in the process of evaluating some Time Entry (payroll-like) software called JourneyX..

Had some installation issues that I was able to resolve, and the app has a browser interface and seems functional.

So my problem is accessing this thing from another box in true 'network mode' i.e. many users...

I can ping the box, I can ssh into it, the web server (apache) is working...

I should be able to enter a URL into my browser on another machine and go to it and see the JourneyX interface. Should be something like:

http://MyServer.com:8080

and the interface should appear....

Here's my problem: How do I create on this new box the "MyServer.com" address for it to resolve? I got mirred in conf files and all sorts of things, then I thought you folks could give the fast track to making it work. I'll probably be changing all of it when I bring it down here to the office anyway, so the less 'hard coding' I have to do the better.
